How do I apply for admission to Saint Joseph's High School?
The application process for an 8th grader begins with taking the Placement Test. Once a student has taken the test he/she will receive a registration packet and directions for the registration process.The Placement Test is offered on the first Saturday in December. If your child is unable to take the test in December, call 574-233-6137 for other testing dates.
Do you make testing accomodations for students with IEP's?
Students with IEP's should take the Placement Test in January. Extended time is given for students with IEP's. The date for this test, is Tuesday, January 19. Call the school at 233-6137 to make a reservation for this testing date.
How do I apply for admission as a transfer student?
Saint Joseph's accepts transfer students. Please call the Admissions Office, 574-233-6137 for a transfer packet. We welcome your questions and encourage you to visit with us.
Do transfer students need to take the Placement Test?
Transfer students do not take the placement test. Transfer students will need to send us a copy of their high school transcript and current high school schedule.
How can prospective students visit Saint Joe?
The Open House in November provides an opportunity to meet our students, faculty, administrators, co-curricular moderators and coaches. It's a good time to explore the academic departments and the diverse cocurricular offerings.
The 8th grade visit day in December is designed for the 8th graders to experience a typical freshman high school day. 8th graders receive a class schedule and actively participate in classes and a day designed for them.
We encourage you to visit with us and tour the building during school hours. Call the admissions office for more information and to make an appointment.
How is course placement determined for freshmen?
Placement test scores, junior high grades and test scores, and junior high teacher recommendations are used to make the recommendations for course placement. The registration interview allows for the parents and student to discuss the recommendations and student's interests. Proper placement is a collaborative process.
What is the cost of tuition and is financial aid available?
Tuition is set by the Bishop each spring. Financial aid information and forms are availalbe in January. The FACTS financial aid form may be completed online. Is there a dress code at Saint Joe?
The dress code requires students to wear a Saint Joe shirt and dress, khaki style, or corduroy pants/skirts, in a color of black, navy, shades of brown, grey or white. The full dress code can be found on page 19 of the student handbook.
